EUROVISION

The 54th Eurovision 2009 Song contest will be held in Russia.

The dates are:

1st Semi-Final - Tuesday 12th May 2009
2nd Semi-Final - Thursday 14th May 2009

Grand Final - Saturday 16th May 2009.


Eurovision 2008 was held in Belgrade, on 22, 23 and 24 May.

.....and the winner was............Russia

The 2007 winner was Serbia

Israel participated in the semi-final in Helsinki on May 10, 2007
28 songs were performed, of which 10 went to the final on May 12.
Israel's song "Push the Button" did not make it into the final.

The 2007 contest was held in Helsinki Finland on May 10 & 12.
The 2006 contest was held in Athens Greece.

Israel's 2006 entry was Eddie Butler singing Ze Hazman

History:
The 2004 Eurovision Song Contest took place in Istanbul Turkey on May 12 & 15, 2004. Israel did not make the finals.
The Eurovision winner was Ruslana from the Ukraine with her song "Wild Dances"
(This is now a popular Israeli line dance)
Therefore the 2005 Song Contest was held in the winning city, Kiev, on May 21, 2005.
Israel came fourth in 2005 with a very strong vote for Shiri Maimon's song
