SHIR ASIF

HARVEST SONG

Kol hatapuchim bagan
Berinah katafnu,
Kol ha'agasim kulam,
Besimchah asafnu.

Kol ha'olelot ad tom
Bak'ramim batzarnu,
Et hatiras basadot
Besasson katzarnu.

Et goreneinu hayafah
Lechem paz gadashnu,
Et s'doteinu misaviv
Batlamim charashnu.

Od me'at hagar'inim
Betikvah nat'minah,
Lashanah hachadashah
Yevulim naz'minah.

All the apples in the garden
Joyously we picked;
All the pears, every one,
Happily we gathered.

All the clusters of grapes, to the last,
In the vineyards we harvested;
The maize in the fields
Merrily we reaped.

Our beautiful threshing floor
With golden grain we heaped;
Our fields around
With furrows we ploughed.

Very soon the seeds
In hope we'll plant deep;
For the new year -
An order for good crops.
