A CHANUKAH LAMP HAVE I
A Chanukah lamp have I Its flames chuckling inside, Softly telling me the story Of one tiny cruse of oil. My Chanukah lamp, Oh, shine your light for me.
Once, long ago, a miracle occurred For the people which fearlessly fought Against the gods of "freedom": My people came out the hero. My Chanukah lamp, Oh, shine your light for me.
The jug stood quietly by, With pure, sweet oil inside. With it they kindled the light For songs and psalms of praise. My Chanukah lamp, Oh, shine your light for me.
And in the Sanctuary there shone A pure Menorah anew To whisper a story true Of how the yoke was overthrown. My Chanukah lamp, Oh, shine your light for me.
