LEAH NAOR

Born in 1935, in Herzliya, Naor studied literature at Tel Aviv University. She is a prolific writer of poetry and stories for children and adults, songs, stories, plays and musical shows, as well as screenplays for many productions by Israel Educational TV.

She has collaborated with leading Israeli artists who have set her works to music, including Chava Alberstein (in her early career), Matti Caspi, the Parvarim, Nachum Heiman (on a musical show), and many more. She also translated Rudyard Kipling’s “Just So” stories, among works by other authors.

She is the recipient of prestigious literary prizes in Israel and internationally for her outstanding translation of children’s stories, including the Hans Anderson Prize which she received for her translation of Dr. Seuss’ “Cat in a Hat”.
She was awarded the Devorah Omer Prize for Children’s Literature (2014) for her life’s work and the Zeev Prize for Children’s Literature (1980) for her own work, “Aliza’s Choir”.
