You remember the songs

That we sang then, the golden sky,

You remember, in the evenings,

Under a starry roof,

With gals and pals

Sometimes we sung:

Tu tu tu tu tu….

You remember the excursion

With that guide, Shaul,

And how Aharoncik, the Big

Pushed on the accordion

Shoutig with powerful voice:

“Now, everybuddy, let's sing!”

And in the most chilly nights

We were just happy

With first-cigarette butt,

We took it into heart and lungs,

We coughed and asked,

And waited for surprises

On Friday, on the fence,

Hands in the pockets,

And Elihauh, the Fat,

Saying four-words,

But in the dark nobody saw

How we blushed, and… he too.

Tu tu tu tu tu….

We stood for hours, and looked

At Little Ariela,

How watermellon juice

Stained her white shirt

And our innocent heart,

That is dancing in front of her

You remember the fields

The narcisses, the Saturdays,

It all passed so fast

And it's a little hard to remember

How it was once easy

To sing, to live, and never die…

Tu tu tu tu tu….

You remember the songs

That we sang then, the golden sky...

VI RICORDATE LE CANZONI

Vi ricordate le canzoni

di Mina, Milva e la Vanoni,

di quelle sere tanto belle,

là, sotto il tetto delle stelle,

amici e amiche, in riva al mare

si stava a volte a cantare.

Vi ricordate? Gite al monte,
con quella guida – Senofonte –

e con il grande Mario Polla,

la fisarmonica a tracolla,

la forte voce tira fuori:

“Un – due - Quel mazzolin di fiori...”

In quelle sere che pioveva

si stava insieme e si rideva,

in bocca i primi mozziconi,

si prende a cuore e nei polmoni

e poi, tossendo, nell' attesa

che ci sarà qualche sorpresa.

Di venerdì, vicino al masso,
le mani dentro le saccocce
e con Nicola, detto 'Il Grasso'

che dice certe parolacce,

però in quegli angoletti bui

arrossivamo...e pure lui.

Per ore, accanto alla stazione,

ad osservare la Marietta

e come il succo di melone

macchia la bianca camicetta

e il cuor che dice: “La vorrei...”

e balla, timido, per lei.

Vi ricordate i prati erbosi

ed i narcisi odorosi,

in fretta tutto è già finito

ed il ricordo è un po' sbiadito.

Com'era semplice, amici,

cantare e vivere felici...
