Grass coated with dew and raindrops - and a Happy New Year.
From the door, the morrow's brightness and azure,
Good news on a sheet of paper, sent by the wind,
Floats in on its wing, straight into our hearts.
Maybe if the year is happy indeed
We'll forget our habits of strife and despair
And to the strains of the next song,
we'll dance together.
Maybe we'll send a card or greeting,
Or even sing a Halleluyah,
For I perceive that the blessings of this year
Turn on no-one but ourselves.
I have not forgot
my own deceptions
And seek now grace and goodness,
at the coming of the Fall.
I'm thrilled at meeting grown-ups and children
And building a house, together with them all.
Grass coated with dew and rain -
and a Happy New Year…
